‘Justice For Kumari Sowjanya’ facebook campaign demands CBI probe

Mangalore, 13 November 2012: A Facebook campaign has been launched by a group of netizens in support of CBI or CID enquiry of brutal murder of student titled ‘Justice For Kumari Sowjanya’ which has gone viral on the social networking site and more than 1000 supported within 48 hours.

The 17-year-old student Sowjnya was found raped and killed near Pangala, Dharmasthala near Belthangady on October 10. The family of Sowjanya has demanded that the case be handed over to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of Karnataka police.

They claimed that there have been many cases of rape and murder in the past few months in Dharmasthala, and these cases too should be investigated along with Soujanya’s case. And, only a probe by the CID would reveal the truth, the family members said.

Santhosh Rao, who has been arrested in connection to the case is not the only accused, it is understood that there were others involved in it, they opine.  Meanwhile, several student organisations and pro Hindu organisations also demanded for CID or CBI probe of case.
